ideas rather it reflects difficulties overcoming organizational
barriers such as siloed departments, competing agendas and the absence
of stakeholder buy-in and enthusiasm.

Imagine life today without the Internet. As part of Advertising
Week in New York, we decided to find out how profoundly this remarkable
technology has permeated our everyday existence. Yahoo! and OMD,
with Conifer Research, took the Internet connection away from 13
families for two weeks to examine how their lives would shift as
a result. We watched them, interviewed them, and videotaped their
progress. Before the Internet, how did we book travel, find phone
numbers, research for school, get driving directions or stay connected
with our friends and family? How were lives impacted over the two
weeks? Will people go back to the old way of doing things?
